"Holistic Psychology - The Union of Cognition, Emotion, and Action"
In my long-standing work with psychological models, with individuals in counseling, research, and leadership, one truth has continually become clearer to me: Our professional psychological culture often considers humans in fragmented ways—whether as cognitive processors, emotional beings, or action systems. However, life doesn't work that way. What we experience, do, remember, or avoid never occurs in isolation. Thinking, feeling, and acting are not three separate functions—they are a dynamic whole. This book endeavors to capture that in theoretical, practical, and scientific terms.
Holistic Psychology is my design to bring psychology into the 21st century and make it broadly applicable. It rejects reductionism and fragmentation in favor of integration. My aim is to offer a model that reflects the complexity of mental processes without oversimplifying them—and yet remains comprehensible. I integrate concepts from cognitive science, emotion research, systems theory, and action theory, and demonstrate how their integration fosters a truly comprehensive approach to the human psyche.
In my opinion, this book is a successful endeavor because it doesn't merely reference theories. It develops its own language, framework, and a practical understanding of psychological reality. Anyone working with people (whether in therapy, coaching, counseling, or leadership) will find herein a new paradigm that extends beyond disciplinary boundaries:
How do actions emerge from internal tensions?
How do emotions shape our judgments?
How do thought patterns influence our bodily sensations?
I am convinced that we need a psychology that not only explains but also connects and applies positively. A psychology that doesn’t enlarge the divide between emotion and intellect, but instead makes their interactions productive. That is exactly what this book aims to deliver: a psychology that differentiates—without splitting.
Holistic Psychology is directed toward all who wish to think complexly, act responsibly, and work with people without hiding behind professional barriers. It is a scientifically grounded book, yet radically application-oriented. And it is hopefully a catalyst for a psychology of the future: interconnected, experiential, and holistic.
The book has just been published by Nomos Publishing House; the link to the book is found in the comment below.
